“As the deer pants for the water brooks, so pants my soul after you, O God,” so begins the 42nd Psalm on which this original composition is based. Composed in 3/4 meter, a simple but strong melody is supported by an ongoing sixteenth-note line and eighth-note arpeggios in adagio tempo. A second, stately section resorts to tall chords to portray the Psalmist hope in the Lord. This was commissioned by the Raleigh Ringers.
