Heitz Handbells and Music LLC was created January 2010 after Carol A. Scheel and Norman P. Heitz decided to become partners in Norm’s handbell business for the purpose of reestablishing and furthering the business to assist handbell directors and ringers in the area. In 1983, Norm started the business on the porch of his house. It grew to an established business in the late 80’s and 90’s. He became a seller of Malmark instruments, loved to edit manuscripts and directed handbells at St. Olaf at the same time as he ran his vibrant business. He moved multiple times: to churches, to warehouses, back to churches.
Carol’s goal was to return Heitz Handbells and Music to a vibrant, focused business.
Norm Heitz passed away in 2014 after fighting cancer. He was kind, interested in others, quirky and friendly. Carol has since continued working, selling Malmark instruments, ringing bells, playing piano and enjoying time with friends at events.
