Description

Fred Bock has long been known for excellent and interesting piano arrangements. At last, some of these are being set for handbells. William Mathis captures the fun and frolic of Fred’s “Jingle Bells” by combining sleigh bells and triangle with staccato passages to open the work. At the chorus we find a descending chromatic movement that adds a comical notion. Bagpipe effects enter on the next verse which dead ends into some trouble! Perhaps this is the precise moment that the horse becomes “upsot!” The ride begins again and all is well.
