“How Lovely Is Thy Dwelling Place” is one of seven movements from the large scale work “A German Requiem” written for choir, orchestra and soloists. Unlike a Catholic requiem mass that uses standardized Latin, this work derives its text from the Holy Scriptures utilizing a German Luther Bible. This was one of Brahms’ longest compositions. It is a sacred but non-liturgical piece. Much of this piece is easy to ring but there are some challenges throughout it. Arranged in Eb Major, this work is 179 measures.
