Description

A distinctive treatment of this age old melody includes the Singing Bell technique and malleted suspended handbells, along with the optional use of alternate bells and the somber resonance of an oboe to create the ambiance of mystery and wonder. It is also possible to play all of the parts using only one 5 octave set of handbells. This dreamy, mysterious setting of the familiar Advent tune is set in e minor and is 12 measures. Treisback’s arrangement would be an outstanding choice for a prelude before an Advent service.
