This original work by Mary Lou Fast was created during the Covid epidemic with heart-felt compassion for how so many people were feeling sad, depressed, and lonely. It is written in F-minor built on the foundation of an 8-measure bass (pedal) line. From that was born this introspective and moving piece. The lovely melody is featured in both handchimes and handbells, and variations throughout are engaging with extensive use of LV passages and a few perfectly-placed Shakes. It flows nicely and even though written in a minor key, it imparts a feeling of comfort and hope. This will be an especially lovely work for the Lenten season or any time music written in a minor key is needed.
